Infected with Virusdefense.info? How frustrated.
My son's computer has been popping up windows of IE set to virusdefense.info/us/alert over the last several days. AVG identifies it as a Exploit Social Engineering and Secures it. And then it happens again and AVG secures it again. And on. Any insight into what is going on here? Something is making IE open automatically, cause we certainly aren't doing it.
Virusdefense.info is a bogus scam to mislead users into thinking that their computer has serious problems that must be fixed by paying for a license of the software. Virusdefense.info performs fake scans of the hard disk and then report multiple non-existent threats. By connecting to the so-called technicians, they will tell you to purchase the service to remove the threats. However, the software and any support packages offered are bogus and will offer no help whatsoever in cleaning up the problem or protecting against any other threats. Newer generations of misleading applications may also cause instability on the computer such as moving files around, hiding them, or preventing access to certain resources. It is suggested to remove Virusdefense.info from the computer as soon as possible to avoid further damage. It is better to scan your computer with a powerful anti-spyware program like Spyhunter to check out the problem and remove viruses.
