Remove StartNewTab - Get Rid of http://www.startnewtab.com/watch Redirect

Infected with StartNewTab ? How frustrated.


If you have StartNewTab on your computer, you may have the same experience like below:

Hi, I had recently tried to download a game free from this website (Not Pirate bay or torrenting websites), and I downloaded an installer which I turned on and immediately turned it off, but it had downloaded loads of programs such as Bubble Dock onto my computer in the background. I have gotten rid of most of it though a large link thing appears over the screen on web pages and Steam pages which send me to advertisement pages, before it goes to these advertisements it shows up with www.w3.org or www.StartNewTab. Any help is fine, thank you.


tartNewTab(http://www.startnewtab.com/watch) is a kind of redirect infection which will mess with user's internet browsing experience. StartNewTab is capable to change your browser setting and redirect your webpage to unwanted websites. Www.startnewtab.com is designed to change your browser's settings and change your web browser's homepage and default search provider to a different one without your permission. StartNewTab can infiltrate into the computer by bundling with certain free programs that you normally download and install. These bundles include a licensing agreement that you must accept to download and install the software. Once gets into the computer,StartNewTab  will compromise your browser and modify browser setting. When you surf the Internet, StartNewTab is capable to redirect you to its own domain.

StartNewTab may lead you to gaome sites or hacked site which can keep track of your personal information or drop down malicious programs. StartNewTab  may connect to the Internet to request data and download files. How to remove StartNewTab


Method 1: Manual removal


Step 1: Stop related running processes in Windows Task Manager first.

Press CTRL+ALT+DEL or CTRL+SHIFT+ESC or Press the Start button->click on the Run option->Type in taskmgr and press OK.



Step 2: Remove any infection related program from Control Panel.

Windows Vista and Windows 7

1. Open the Start menu.
2. Click Control Panel and click Uninstall a program.
3. Remove the related programs.





Windows XP

1. Open the Start menu.
2. Click Control Panel and then click Add or Remove Programs.
3. Uninstall related programs.


Windows 8

1. Press Win+R.
2. Type in control panel and click OK.
3. Select Uninstall a program.
4. Remove the related programs.



Step 3: Remove StartNewTab from your browsers.

Reset Internet Explorer




Reset Google Chrome





Reset Mozilla Firefox





Step 4: Show all hidden files and clean all the malicious files.

(1).Click the Start button and choose Control Panel, clicking Appearance and Personalization, to find Folder Options then double-click on it.
(2).In the pop-up dialog box, click the View tab and uncheck Hide protected operating system files (Recommended).


Step 5: Go to the Registry Editor and remove all related registry entries.
(Steps: Hit Win+R keys and then type regedit in Run box to search)
